So the US government maintains something called the Strategic Petroluem Reserve - it has been in the news lately. I don't know a lot about it, but shouldn't its existence, the purpose of which is make sure that, god forbid, gas prices never reach the level of, I don't know, a gallon of milk, scare the crap out of us and our fellow citizens? I mean, if we have to spend a lot of money and effort to ferret away oil, which only amounts to about 1% of our daily consumption by the way, shouldn't we a lot more alarmed about our dependency on foreign oil? Is this the BEST idea we have about protecting ourselves from shortages?
